Why the Tattoos?
Why the tattoos? Has to be the question that I hear the most.
My answer to that is that I'm a die-hard Bears fan that wasn't
content just wearing the Bears t-shirt and hat, to show my
support for my team. I wanted to give 110% all the time. So I
got my first Bears tattoo, it was at a tattoo party a friend of
mine was throwing. It's not the best tattoo, but I was happy
with it at the time. The response I got from everyone really
made me want to a couple more and show them that I was the
biggest Bears fan.
Well the next step was a little more bold, I shaved my head
bald. Which to me was a big deal, since I actually looked good
with hair. And then it was time to find a local tattoo artist, that
wasn't a cheesehead. I found one and before I knew it I was
getting a Bears logo on the back of my head. Now having the
Bears logo on the back of my head, everyone that saw it was
amazed and many of them stopped me to let me know how
cool it was. Ok having 2 Bears tattoos are nice, but tattoos
are additive so back to the shop I went. Only to find that it
had moved (which ended up being a good thing), a bit upset I
was going home without a tattoo when I noticed a small tattoo
shop. So I went in to see what kind of work the artist did, boy
was I lucky not only was the artist good his prices were good.
His name is Oscar he is the owner of Bustos Tattoo in
Round Lake Beach, after going over a couple of ideas with
him. I ended up on going with this one for my 3rd Bears tattoo
This idea seemed a little odd at first, but after going to a
players autograph signing a couple years back. I noticed
everyone was having him sign either a picture, football or a
helmet. So when I heard that Otis Wilson was doing an
autograph signing at Kristof's entertainment center down the
street from my home. I thought now was the time to start my
own autograph collection, so I grabbed my sharpie marker
and headed to the signing. Shock is the best way to describe
the look on Otis's face when I told him that I wanted him to
sign my back, so that I could get it tattooed.
That was Oct.16, 2005, at that time I really didn't think that I
would be able to find any other Bear players to sign me. So I
spent weeks looking threw newspapers to see if there were
any players doing autograph signings in the area. Finally I
saw an ad for a pizza place that was having Buddy Ryan in for
a signing, so off I went. I was a little shocked to find out that I
had to pay for his autograph, I always collected Bear
merchandise and didn't know that they charged for
autographs. Shocked but not disappointed, since not only
was Buddy Ryan there but Steve Kazor and Mark Bradley
were there to.
It turned out to be a very expensive day with having to pay
$29.00 for each autograph and that doesn't include the $50.00
each to have them tattooed. Which wasn't that bad since the
signing money went to a charity, so it was for a good cause.
And one of the guys waiting in line told me about a website
www.csac.biz This website lets you know where and when
there is a signing going on in the Chicago area.
Wish I would have gotten his name, because that site is
great. It paid off the very next day, When I found that Charles
Tillman and Desmond Clark where doing a ESPN radio
broadcast in Libertyville.
A
tattoo is a great way
to express yourself, especially if you are a die hard sports fan.
With the right
tattoo
needles and
tattoo
kits it can be easy to create a tattoo in honor of your favorite team.
Asking your tattoo artist a few
questions
can help you find the right tattoo for you, either in
tattoo
books or from somewhere else.
