#8 Ron Turner
#7 Rex Grossman
#12 Gary Fencik signing my back
#13 Steve McMichael
#14 Dan Hampton HOF
#7- Rex Grossman and #8- Ron Turner, came by the way of
another charity event. Which is nice, because if I'm going to
pay for an autograph I want the money to go to a good cause.
This event was at Austins Saloon & Eatery in Libertyville. The
players coming to this event were Rex Grossman, Ron Turner
and Charles Tillman. I was the first one to show up, so I
stayed close to the door in order to get them right as they
walked in.
Boy was I amazed when they showed up and Mrs. Turner
walked in and looked right at me then turned to her husband
Ron and said " He's the Bear fan that everyone is talking
about" Know hearing that really made my day, I think she was
just as excited as I was about getting their autographs. And I
must say Rex and Ron were really nice about signing me,
Charles was the first player to see me after already having
sign me. He thought the tattoo came out just the way he
signed it.
#9- Ruben Brown, came by the way of a fashion show at a
Harley shop in Libertyville. For those of you that don't know
Ruben is a avid bike rider, his bike of choice is a Harley. He
was there promoting his bike run that was coming up. I didn't
remember to bring the camera to this one.
#10- Glen Kozlowski and #11- Tommie Harris were at another
charity event to raise money for a church in Lake Villa. Coach
Lovie was also there but I decided not to have him sign me
yet, since he might take the Bears to the superbowl and if he
does that, I will have him sign me under Mike Ditkas. And
once again I forgot to bring the camera.
#12- Gary Fencick, he was doing a autograph signing for a
grand opening of a Home Depot. I got there about an hour
before the he was going to start signing, I was stunned to
see that there were already about a hundred people already
waiting in line. When I finally got my turn to get his autograph,
I told him where I wanted him to sign. He looked a little
puzzled, so I turned around and took off my shirt and showed
him the others. As he was signing me, he turned to his agent
and told him to get his camera from his car. So that he could
take a picture of my tattoos, now that was cool.
#13- Steve McMichael (Mongo), I saw that he was going to be
at a TV rental shop about two hours from me. Now that's a
little farther than I like to travel for a autograph, since I have
to worry about the signature getting smeared. But this was
Mongo, so off I went. I got there about two hours early, I was
first in line. So when Steve and his wife Misty walked in an
hour early (it's uncommon for a player to show up early) I had
my back to them, they walked right pass me and sat down at
the table that was set up for the signing. He then looked at
me and asked if that car in the parking lot with all the Bears
stuff all over it was mine. I said "yes" he replied "I thought
so, anyone with a Bears tattoo on the back of their would
have to be driving that car". He then asked me where he
could get a pair of dice like the one I have hanging in my
window(Bears dice). After telling him I got them as a gift and
didn't know where to buy them.
After waiting about 10 minutes, he says let get this signing
going. He then asked me what I wanted signed, that's when I
took my shirt off and turned around and said "Any where
back there". The reaction on both his and his wifes face was
priceless, his wife Misty even took the pictures for me while
Steve signed me. When he was done signing me he
motioned for one of the guys from the Chicago Rush (they
were sponsoring this signing). He then tells me to hold on for
a minute, the guy that he had motioned over had talk to him
and ran to the back room. A minute later he comes out with a
Chicago Rush football that reads: Hall of Famer Mike Ditka
and it was signed by Da Coach! Mongo tells him to give me
the ball and says that ball was going to be given to the
biggest Bears fan that comes in today. And that there was no
need to wait, that I was surly the biggest fan, they also gave
me a pair of tickets to a Rush game. So before I left to get
tattooed I ran to my car and got the Bears dice that Misty
liked and gave it to her. Mongo and Misty thanked me and off
I went.
#14-Dan Hampton, He was at a Jewel store for this signing.
Dan really is a nice guy, after he had signed me I started to
leave when he calls me back and asks me. If I wanted him to
sign the seat-back (from Soldier Field) that I had in my hand, I
forgot all about it I was so star struck.(LOL) Dan was the
perfect example of a player who gave his all for the sport and
the team that he loved. He will always carry the scars of the
game with him, I remember seeing him standing on the side
line waiting to go back in with blood running down his
fingers. So If you run into him take a minute to thank him for
all he did for the Chicago Bears and their fans.
